Soaring Energy Costs Trigger a Sustainability Revolution in Real Estate

"Analiz Print Edition: Rising energy prices fueled by geopolitical crises force the real estate sector toward green tech. Burak Ustaoğlu notes that solar power and AI are now strategic necessities rather than luxuries."

Crises Forge a New Breaking Point in Energy Policies

Supply pressures in oil and natural gas driven by Middle Eastern conflicts are forcing the real estate and construction sectors to rapidly seek alternative energy solutions. According to recent reports from the International Energy Agency (IEA), supply disruptions are pushing many countries to shift their renewable energy incentives toward market-based mechanisms. It is expected that 60% of the new capacity installed over the next five years will rely on these methods.

Likening the current landscape to the 1970s oil shocks, the IEA highlights that modern technological infrastructure will allow a much faster decoupling from fossil fuels. Experts agree that while short-term uncertainties exist, they lay the groundwork for massive long-term growth in smart technologies and renewable systems.

AI and Solar Energy: A Strategic Requirement

Burak Ustaoğlu, President of the Real Estate Investment and Technologies Association, pointed out that rising energy bills are making homebuyers significantly more selective. According to Ustaoğlu, solar energy panels and energy storage units have transitioned from being prestige elements for buildings to fundamental necessities.

Ustaoğlu summarized the situation: "The upward momentum in energy prices has exploded the demand for smart home systems that minimize costs. Technologies offering consumption optimization to users are rapidly becoming standard. As geopolitical tensions persist, investor focus will shift entirely toward self-sufficient, AI-supported projects integrated with renewable energy."
